49, HARD TIMES Times are a changing from days gone by. I must ask the question. What is the reason why? True-blue Aussies living in poverty, can't afford a meal. This is Australia. what is the deal? What happened to the lucky country? Aussies can't afford a roof over their head. Good tucker is hard to find. This drives Aussies out of their minds. It is hard yakka not having beds for their tin lids. Many families sleep under a bridge. This is Australia, ridgy- didge. Why are people struggling in this great southern land? Gold, diamonds, oil too with some wealthy creating opportunities for a few. Many Aussies are living on struggle street. Their next electric bill is coming, which they cannot meet. A fair suck of the sauce is all they ask. The cost of living is out of our control. Why, is the question I must ask? Fair dinkum I used to hear people say and she'll be right mate, but not any more. People are on the footpath calling out for help with cap in hand.. Why is this so in our great southern land. There is an abundance of cash surplus we hear the PM say. So why are there Aussies living in this way? The first place he should start is in our own back yard. Is this beyond him? It really can't be that hard. We must take the Government to task. Is Australia the lucky country? For whom I must ask?
