66, WINTER FOR SOME
Winter is just around the corner.
Some may get rugged up,
a heater to keep them warm
and a bed to keep them snug.
The nights are much cooler now with dampness in the air.
For those sleeping rough, who really cares?
Please consider their situation. Give them some thought.
What about that latte coffee you just bought?
Rain will come pouring down dripping off their back.
For that person living rough is there any turning back?
Shelter is all they seek. Is this so much to ask?
I believe the time has come to take our politicians to task.
No person should live without shelter over their head
or the chance to sleep in a warm bed.
Volunteers do what they can, offering food and hot drinks from an old Kombi van.
They knit scarves and beanies to help keep the homeless warm during the next winter storm.
Rough sleeping may not be a choice. Sometimes all they need is a powerful voice.
Politicians you have a job to do.
You were not elected to serve a chosen few.
Every person deserves to have a voice.
Listen to them. You have a choice.
Homelessness in Australia is out of control.
To resolve this problem please make this your goal.
